"Recent advances in high resolution 2D and 3D mapping from Space" Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter Reinartz German Aerospace Center (DLR), Germany |
Due to the fast developments in sensor, satellite and hardware technologies as well as through the advances in machine learning through deep neural networks, the last years have shown a tremendous boost in the development of remote sensing (big) data analytics. In this contribution we will concentrate on some of the methodological developments and applications especially for data analytics and data fusion of different data modalities as well as on some specific applications which also include 3D data. SAR data can e.g. be used for the improvement of the absolute geometric precision of optical space and airborne data, leading to up to decimeter accuracy. Furthermore the improved optical data can be used for generating HD-Maps for automated driving. On the other hand (multiple-)stereo data of very high resolution can be used for the generation of high precision digital surface models (DSM), which in turn can be improved by deep nets, intensively trained by even higher resolution data (e.g. from LiDAR). The generation of digital terrain models (DTM) can also be learned through deep nets with DSM as input data.
