Having an optimal disaster and accident management requires proper planning on main components including risk analysis, prevention, mitigation, preparedness and response. In addition to having skilled personnel, this optimization also requires standard equipment and tools. Remote sensing systems, geographic information systems and geospatial-based tools are considered of the most suitable tools or systems which could be widely used in disaster management optimization. This, using such tools and knowledge must be taken into consideration by disaster management planners and managers. This speach studies the challenges of applying such systems in disaster management sector.
