"Introduction of a Sentinel-1 InSAR Automatic Tool

for Monitoring Earthquake, Tectonic and Volcanic Activities"

Dr. Yasser Maghsoudi

Khaje Nasir Toosi University of Technology, Department of Remote Sensing

With the advent of the European Space Agency’s two Copernicus Sentinel-1 satellites providing high-quality C-band SAR data with high spatial and temporal resolution, a large volume of observations has freely become available. This vast volume of data provides an excellent resource for studying earthquake, tectonic and volcanic activities. However, to make the best use of this data, automatic processing systems are required. For this, the Centre for Observation and Modelling of Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Tectonics (COMET) has been developing LiCSAR, a prototype automatic processing chain based on GAMMA’s Interferometric Processor. This system is capable of processing all data acquired globally, with the resulting products freely accessible through an online portal. The products include both wrapped and unwrapped interferograms, coherence estimates, velocity estimates and metadata. In this talk, in addition to presenting some of the key features of the LiCSAR processing chain, some of the new results for a few selected target regions will be illustrated.
